My name is Oliver James Pelling. I am a specialist in Film, Television, Photography and Editing, operating out of southeast Essex. I also have been known to moonlight as a model, actor/extra and entertainer.
I studied at the University of Essex, where I gained a BA Honours Degree in Television Production and Screen Media. Before then, I went to Belfairs Media Arts Academy, where I achieved Media Studies (OCR Levels 2 & 3 National Certificates) alongside Photography (A-Level), ICT (OCR Level 2 National Certificate) and Drama (GCSE).
Since my studies, I have mostly prioritised job security, gaining a respectable role in the retail industry, whilst building my portfolio on the side. I have been fortunate enough to have gained some work experience, meeting some very interesting people on my journey, and have attended a number of industry events and workshops. In my spare time, I have volunteered for St. John's Ambulance as a First Aider and during the covid-19 pandemic of 2020-2023, I re-trained and served as a Volunteer Vaccinator.
I am extremely passionate about the film and television industry. When I was young, I loved film and television, in particular the escapism that it provided. A good story can open up whole new worlds of ideas and inspire for change or the ability to create. It is my humble ambition in life to produce quality entertainment and memories such as these stories I have grown to love and cherish and to inspire new ideas through the magic of the visual arts.
This website and my social media serves as my portfolio to showcase and celebrate my collective works. Plus I keep an extensive Archive of my previous work on record.
As a filmmaker anything I endeavour to create has every ambition of being the next blockbuster hit. I first became involved in filmmaking in secondary school as an obsessive consumer of film and television. Harbouring a passion for the audio-visual arts. I proceeded to pursue an education in filmmaking and photography, attending university for television production and screen media after school, graduating in 2015. My student projects, whilst now might be considered crude and lacking due to the constraints of timing allocations and limited budget, excelled the expectations of my lecturers and peers. Nowadays I am constantly honing my filmmaking skills producing a variety of Viral Content on Social Media whist looking for new Opportunities.
It has never been easier to express art through visual aids. That is what this style of work is all about, whether it is found in the most basic snapshots taken in the spur of that moment, to the most mind bending computer generated and advanced edited artworks, and all that fall in between. My Signature photography is aimed at showcasing my art in it purest/natural form; unedited, untouched and the most skill demanding of the craft. Quality shots is where my photography finds that bespoke professional finish - edited to suite purpose yet restrained enough to allow the shots to speak naturally. With the introduction of new technologies such as A.I Imaging I believe it is important to maintain a standard staying true to the art of the craft. Yet, in my dedicated 'Edits', This is where artistic expression is allowed freedom of speech, utilising everything including new and advancing A.I technologies to create art as pioneers of new frontiers and being given the freedom to experiment.
Whilst it had never originally been my intention to be on camera, I was made aware of my own potential as a model / actor when people have often commented on my natural charisma and confidence. And this intrigued me. I questioned my abilities in this regard and now I am challenging myself to investigate this potential.
